The Republic of South Africa, abbreviated as "South Africa," is located at the southernmost of the African Continent, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and neighboring Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Eswatini to the north, with Lesotho entirely surrounded by the territory of South Africa. The administrative capital is Pretoria, the legislative capital is Cape Town, and the judicial capital is Bloemfontein. South Africa covers an area of 1,219,090 square kilometers in total, with a coastline approx. 3,000 kilometers long. Most of the Country is dominated by the tropical savanna climate. The Country is divided into 9 provinces with 278 local governments. As of 2022, The total population of South Africa was 60.6 million [17], with English and Afrikaans as lingua francas, and Christianity as the predominant religion.
South Africa is the second-largest economy in Africa, classified as a middle-income developing country, and also the most economically developed and industrialized country on this Continent. South Africa is exceptionally rich in natural resources. The financial and legal systems are relatively well-developed, with good infrastructure in communications, transportation and energy. Mining, manufacturing, agriculture and services are all relatively developed, forming the four pillars of the economy of South Africa, with technologies like deep-shaft mining leading the world. South Africa's GDP in 2022 was $405.6 billion, with per capita GDP of $6,771.
