Ambassador of Zimbabwe to China visiting the FTZ Yuhua Block

Since the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, diplomatic exchanges between the FTZ Yuhua Block and African countries have become increasingly frequent, with bilateral friendship growing stronger. Ambassador of South Africa hosted live-streaming e-commerce at its national pavilion; Mauritius Export Authority gifted a sailboat to co-celebrate the establishment of its national pavilion; the first East Asia overseas warehouse of Nigeria was located in Yuhua; Côte d'Ivoire Export Authority signed an agreement with the FTZ Yuhua Block; state governors of Ghana and Niger signed agreements at their national pavilion in person; Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture established its operations in Yuhua; Ambassadors of Morocco and Central African Republic participated in the exhibition installation at their national pavilion in person.

On October 13, Yuhua welcomed another distinguished African guest. Ambassador of Zimbabwe to China, Martin Chedondo, and Minister-Counsellor Gracious Nyaguse visited the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Innovation Demonstration Park in the FTZ Yuhua Block for bilateral consultation on establishment of international commercial and business institutions and authorization of African national pavilions. Mr. Qiu Jixing, Member of Changsha Municipal CPC Committee and Secretary of FTZ Changsha Block CPC Working Committee, along with Mr. Liu Yibiao, Secretary of FTZ Yuhua Block CPC Working Committee and Director of Administration Committee, accompanied them during the visit.

The foreign delegation visited Hunan Export Product Cluster Zone, with a focused visit to the Loudou Small Agricultural Machinery Pavilion, the Yongzhou 3C Electronics Pavilion, and the Shaoyang Wigs, Luggage and Hardware Pavilion. They conducted detailed inquiries into the product models, functions and pricing. The Ambassador noted that these products are highly popular in Africa and expressed his willingness to establish a strategic cooperation for joint promotion of Hunan commodities into the African market.

The Ambassador's delegation also visited the Expo's permanent exhibition hall, expressing astonishment at the cny-25-million investment made by governments at all levels in construction of African national pavilions, highly commended 106 "brand warehouse" product series like cashews, chili sauce, purple tea and sesame oil incubated in Yuhua Block, and tasted Ethiopian-origin "CoffeeZ" and Kenyan purple tea. Dealers from Egyptian, South African, Kenyan and Malagasy pavilions engaged in enthusiastic exchanges with the Ambassador. At the Zimbabwe National Pavilion, Ambassador Martin Chedondo inquired in detail about the sale and promotion of Zimbabwean tobacco leaves, cottonseeds, leather, stone carvings and the like exhibits or samples in Hunan; currently, some tobacco used by the China Tobacco Group in Yuhua District is sourced from Zimbabwe. The Ambassador stated that Zimbabwe is eager to collaborate with the FTZ Yuhua Block, leveraging the African National Pavilion exhibition platform and China-Africa official exchange channels for joint investment promotion and industrial matchmaking. This will further enhance confidence in promoting more diversified bilateral economic and trade cooperation, more plentiful product offerings and more stable supply chains. Zimbabwe is also sincerely inviting governmental delegations to visit the country.

Since established in September 2020, the FTZ Yuhua Block has achieved cumulative import-export trade of approximately cny 35.7 billion, including 7.45 billion with Africa. From January to September this year, 70 Africa-trading enterprises were settled and developed here and achieved Africa-related trade volume of approx. cny 3.5 billion (including 2.153 billion of export to Africa in market procurement trade), marking over 95% year-on-year growth, accounting for 8% of the provincial total and over 20% of the municipal total. Major exports include building materials, daily necessities, apparel and electronic accessories, while imports primarily comprise minerals and agricultural products, with key trade partners being Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Algeria.
